WATER
We woke yesterday to a red light on the pump house meaning, low pressure.  I turned on the faucet and sure enough it was low.  We quickly took our showers, barely made it before the trickle turned to a useless dribble.  

Maintenance worked on the problem most of the day.  It looks like the primary problem was that at some time power was interrupted and the pump shut off and did not properly reset itself.  It should reset itself automatically, but lately that feature has not been dependable.  Since none of us noticed a power outage we did not check the status of the pump until the pressure light came on.  Yesterday the pump was manually reset and the pressure has slowly been coming back up.  The second problem, we still have another leak somewhere, were losing approximately 7 gallons per minute according to our meter.

11:58 AM  News, Bill just called in that they found a big leak at Camp New Journey across the highway from Jackson Lake. A camp that currently has no resident living there.  He shut off their supply and will inform them so they they can arrange to have it repaired.  Our water tank is slowing filling back up.  We are thankful that we didn’t have to cancel this weekends camp!

TELEPHONES

January began with a series of storms that lasted just over 2 weeks.  During one of those storms all 3 of our phone lines failed.  When the sunny weather returned earlier this week we contacted Frontier to see about repairs.  With each contact they said “we have no report of service problems in your area.”  Finally today, I called and insisted they send someone out to do something about it, “it’s been more than 2 weeks, we have tested our equipment and it seems to be operating normally.”  I was on the phone for almost an hour with a Frontier service rep.  Finally at length and after they tried many remote tests, the service person said, “oh my, all three of your lines are down.”?!?!  “My tests have indicated that there is a problem with the phone lines” he said.  WOW! Finally!  So, Monday afternoon the 23 we are expecting a service visit.


ROOFS

After each wind storm we find more roofing tiles scattered around camp. Our old roofs are showing their extreme and urgent need for attention. We will be getting estimates for these repairs in the next couple of months, weather permitting. There is a critical indoor leak in the dining hall that we have tried to patch during the breaks in the weather, but the snow came again and stalled those efforts. Refrigeration & Transportation

  3/30/2022 This past weekend our walk-in refrigerator temperature began to rise above 40 degrees. (Acceptable temps for food storage are 34-40 degrees F.)   The technician came last night (the 29th).   He said that we are low on refrigerant gas, which means that we need to test for leaks.   He observed some ‘wet’ areas at junctions in the system, that need to be tested and probably need to be repaired. But we have another problem,   our unit is charged with a refrigerant gas that is obsolete.   He is researching for compatibility with a modern refrigerant that can be used to top off the system and get us going again.   He said that to replace with the old gas would cost more than our whole system is worth, if it is even available (must be one of those ozone things).   There is a possibility that he will need to evacuate the old gas and then replace all the seals & gaskets in the system.   He showed us that the coils inside the walk-in ...

March 11-13 2022 VP MS Camp

  March 11, Sat, 2022- VP MS Camp Last night at about 9:30 or 10:00 o'clock there was a call on the radio about both floor drains backing up in the Chapel bathrooms.  Bill and Tona responded right away. This morning at about 7:20AM I went up to the dining hall to give a telephone message to Tona.  Bill called on the radio and asked me to come down to the Chapel and look at the situation. When I got there he already had dug up about 10 foot of main sewage line outside the Chapel. There was a clean out pipe that was vertically standing at ground level, it had raw sewage backing up out of it. Bill said that he had been working on it last night until about midnight.  The old 'clay' septic pipes were enveloped with tree roots that had invaded the pipes and plugged them in 2 or 3 different areas along a 24 foot run of pipe.  I made a quick trip to Victorville to buy 30 feet of 4” septic ABS plastic replacement pipe with connectors and Bill had it connected and wo...
